Floor Jansen of Nightwish Kicks Off 2020 Tour with 20 Songs!

Floor Jansen is known for her outstanding soprano vocals, and as the lead vocalist for the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish (since 2013.) The Dutch metal singer is showing off her chops as a solo artist in 2020 with a short solo winter tour throughout the Netherlands.

The tour features Jansen performing songs she originally sang during her recent appearance on Dutch reality TV show "Beste Zangers" ("Best Singers"), along with selects from throughout her career.

Jansen describing "Beste Zangers" last year:

"This show is all about music and singing and despite the name, has nothing to do with whom is best. Seven singers participate and we will sing each other's music, but in our own style."

The tour's kickoff show last night, January 23rd, took place at Doornroosje in Nijmegen and featured a 20-song setlist, broken up between two acts! The first act opened up with Nightwish song "Ever Dream" and carried other songs from different projects she's been involved in like Northward's "Storm in a Glass," ReVamp's "Sweet Curse" (with Henk Poort), and After Forever's "Face Your Demons."

Some "Beste Zangers" songs she performed throughout both acts included "Mama," "Winner," "Vilja Lied," Lady Gaga's "Shallow," and Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence." The night concluded with quite the grand finale, featuring Jansen and Poort doing a rendition of "The Phantom of the Opera."
