Rival Sons 2019 European Tour Highlights

After opening for rock legends Black Sabbath and The Rolling Stones, Rival Sons are currently in the midst of their 2019 European tour. The Long Beach-native rockers have been touring in support of their latest release Ferral Roots, which dropped on Jan. 25th.

During their European leg, the Sons have maintained their traditional rock-quartet configuration set up with minimal stage visuals that inevitably focused on the band's performance to remind us the most important part of a live show: the music. Nevertheless, the band keeps fans fully immersed with each show as they continue to rock across Europe.

The Setlist

The setlist is a fulfilling 17-songs long. Rival Sons kick off each show with classic rock single "Back In The Woods," just after unveiling the Ferral Roots album cover as the show's backdrop. Lead singer Jay Buchanan instantly captivates audiences at the top of the show with his crooning vocals along with guitarist Scott Holiday, who packs a punch with each riveting guitar lick he brings to the table.

While the majority of the show includes tracks from the band's latest release, they also do an effortless integration of other hits from some of their previous six albums. Other hits that make a setlist performance include hits "Electric Man" and "Open My Eyes" off their 2014 release Great Western Valkyrie, "Jordan" from 2012's Head Down, and "Face of Light" which appeared on their 2011 release Pressure & Time.

Fan Moments

While Rival Sons may not be generally known for how much they appreciate audiences, the band makes sure to always spotlight fans one way or another. Even with fans simply screaming "I love you, Jay!," Buchanan makes fan experiences that much more memorable when he responds back with gratitude and even sometimes more sarcastic remarks. Either way, you're in for a fully interactive evening with the Sons.

Additionally, Buchanan has even helped audiences members pull off an engagement that took place at their Paris show on Feb. 12th. After playing Roots track "Stood By Me," one audience member dropped to one knee to propose to his girlfriend. Buchanan made sure to shed light on this special moment by mentioning to the woman, "I think he wants to marry you my beautiful!"
