Eagles Kickoff 2020 Hotel California Tour w/ 32-Song Setlist!

Just when we thought the Eagles may be hopping on the recent farewell trend of the classic rock world, long-time members Joe Walsh (guitar & vocals), Don Henley (guitar & vocals) and Timothy B. Schmit (bass & vocals), along with a cast of classic and newer touring members, have embarked on yet another tour to start the new year.

Deemed the Hotel California Tour, the legendary rock band are playing their 1976 hit album Hotel California in its entirety for the first time in their five decade-long career.

The run is set to hit numerous cities across the U.S. through April before making a stop in Mexico in May and London at the end of the summer. And we wouldn’t be surprised if that list expands as the tour continues.

Still mourning the loss of their great brother and long-time member Glenn Frey, the Eagles have found a new rhythm with Frey’s own son, Deacon Frey, taking his place. Talk about a meaningful solution to a tragic loss.

With a complete lineup in tow, along with a surprise appearance of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Eagles kicked off their 2020 tour at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia for night one of three at the sold-out venue.

Opening with the complete Hotel California track list, the band performed all nine songs off of the 1976 album. From “Hotel California” and “New Kid In Town” through “Try and Love Again” and “The Last Resort,” the Eagles fulfilled their promise of reprising the full hit record.

What's even more impressive is the fact that both “Try and Love Again” and “The Last Resort” had only been performed a total of twenty-four times combined since the album’s original release. In other words, deep cut isn't a strong enough description for either track.

Continuing into the second act of the show, the Eagles were sure to throw in numerous of their greatest hits and most-played songs live including “Take It Easy,” “One of These Nights,” “I Can’t Tell You Why,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Love Will Keep Us Alive” and “Heartache Tonight.” And with a complete 32-song set, those performances barely scratched the surface of what remained.

However, no song would be as powerful as “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” which Deacon Frey dedicated to his late father as he took on lead guitar and vocals for the complete performance. With such talent at his fingertips, we can almost guarantee more than a few tears were shed around the arena.

Considering nearly all members have had their own side projects or bands at one time or another, it’s no surprise that they decided to add a few of their own covers to the set. From Joe Walsh’s “In The City” and “Life’s Been Good” to James Gang’s “Walk Away” and “Funk #49,” the Eagles weren’t shy of displaying a different side to the band before breaking into an encore.

Starting the 3-song encore with another Joe Walsh hit, “Rocky Mountain Way,” the band quickly reverted back to the Eagles’ tried and true hits, ultimately ending the show with “Desperado," “The Long Run” and a brief reprise of none other than “Hotel California.”

Although much of the tour has sold out, there are still countless shows remaining on the Hotel California Tour. Check out a full list of 2020 dates below and see LiveNation for ticketing information!
