The coronavirus pandemic is rapidly changing our ways of life. As we learn to adjust – by working remotely, social distancing and spending a vast majority of our days inside our homes – we're realizing that there are a lot of things that simply can't be replaced.
One such thing is live music.
Like the rest of the world, all of us here at Setlist.fm are really missing the joys of live music. But luckily, musicians are trying to fill the void by digging into their archives and sharing old concert footage so we can actually feel something again. Yay!
So if you're sick and tired of sitting around and bingeing shows on Netflix, check out our concert of the day: The National's May 2010 performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
This performance took place a few days after the release of the band's fifth studio album, High Violet. In honor of the album's upcoming 10th anniversary, The National are releasing a 10-year reissue which will include bonus tracks and live cuts previously unavailable on vinyl like "Wake Up Your Saints" and an alternate version of "Terrible Love." Ten years ago, The National took the stage at BAM and performed all 11 High Violet songs: "Conversation 16," "Afraid of Everyone," "Anyone's Ghost," "Lemonworld," "Runaway," "Sorrow," "England," "Little Faith" and now classics "Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks," "Bloodbuzz Ohio" and "Terrible Love."
They also played Boxer songs "Apartment Story," "Mistaken for Strangers," "Slow Show," "Fake Empire" and "Squalor Victoria" and Alligator tracks "Abel," "Secret Meaning," "All the Wine" and "Mr. November."
Sit back, relax and relive the glory days when you wouldn't think twice about rubbing elbows with other sweaty people in a tightly packed venue, bonding over the sound of live music.
