Guns N' Roses Headline Vive Latino 2020 with 22-Song Setlist

Guns N’ Roses is one of few artists who have not suspended their world tour in spite of recent world events. Vive Latino, a massive music festival in Mexico City that goes on annually, kicked off this Saturday (March 14) despite criticisms of their decision to hold it in the middle of a global pandemic.

Founder and director of Vive Latino Jordi Puign moved forward with the event after authorities told him that Mexico is in the first phase of the epidemic. Mexico City mayor Claudia Sheinbaum also supported the move by saying that the festival had an economic impact. Several acts slated to perform canceled their appearances, while a dozen others decided to hit the road. This includes Guns n Roses, who was this year’s headliner. The two-day festival took place this weekend and had over 70,000 people in attendance. Attendees had their temperature taken at the festival’s entrance.

Guns N’ Roses kicked off their performance with a 23-song setlist, which was one of a kind. They opened up with “It’s So Easy,” before jumping into staple hits like “Mr. Brownstone,” “Chinese Democracy” and “Welcome to the Jungle.” They pulled out a performance of the iconic track “So Fine,” which was last played on June 16, 1993! The show included quite the variety of classics from their wide discography, including tracks from iconic records like Appetite for Destruction, Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II.

They also dished out three covers in the main set, including “Slither” by Duff McKagan and Slash's former band Velvet Revolver, “Live and Let Die” by Wings and Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” The set ended with “Nightrain,” before finalizing the evening with three encore performances. These included “Don’t Cry,” “Patience” and “Paradise City.”

The band has postponed a number of shows in South America and Central America, but are still heading to Ecuador, Peru, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Portugal. Shows in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia have been rescheduled to later dates in November and December.

Guns N’ Roses is slated to perform a set of shows in Europe this May and June and will head back to North America in July and August. They’ll be headlining some stadium shows with guest act The Smashing Pumpkins. More information about their tour dates can be found here.
