Morrissey Played Last 2020 UK Date with a 25-Song Setlist

Morrissey is leading his I Am Not a Dog on a Chain tour in full capacity. This weekend, he performed his third show date on March 14 at The SSE Arena in London, England. This show is the last of a set of European/UK dates for the tour. The remaining dates for this month, including March 20 at the Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom and March 21 at the Apollo Theater, are no longer listed on Morrissey’s website. As of now, there are no updates about rescheduled dates in North America.

The tour supports Morrissey’s forthcoming album, I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, which is slated for release on March 20. He live debuted three songs from the record at the beginning of the tour, which were also included in this weekend’s setlist: “Jim Jim Falls,” “Love Is on Its Way Out” and “Once I Saw the River Clean.”

The former frontman for The Smiths walked onto the stage as the first two verses of Skeeter Davis’ “The End of the World” before jumping into a full-blown cover of it.

The 25-song setlist included some memorable hits, starting with a performance of “London,” which hasn’t been performed live since 2007. Eight covers took over the setlist, with fans graced by tracks like Jobriath’s “Morning Starship,” “Lady Willpower” by Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, “Half a Person” by none other than The Smiths, “Back on the Chain Gang” by The Pretenders, “Some Say (I Got the Devil)” by Melanie and Laura Nyro’s “Wedding Bell Blues.”

There was a little bit of everything sprinkled into this setlist. Tracks from his eleventh studio album, Low in High School, included “Home is a Question Mark,” I Wish You Lonely” and “Never Again Will I Be a Twin.” Other songs like “If You Don’t Like Me, Don’t Look at Me” and “Munich Air Disaster 1958” from the Swords record gave a nod to his older work. Morrissey closed out the main set with “Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up on the Stage” before jumping into two encore performances of “Irish Blood, English Heart” and “Jack the Ripper.”
