Quarantini Hour: GALXARA Talks Homelife, Music + More

GALXARA is poppin' off, from her Birds of Prey soundtrack collaboration with Saweetie "Sway With Me," to her latest infectious bop of a single "Jealous Of Myself" - the rising star is painting the town red with her brand of pop!

Watch the video for "Jealous Of Myself" below:

"Jealous Of Myself"

Bursting onto the scene in 2019 with her single "Waste My Youth," the LA-based/Florida-born electro-pop artist has only unleashed four songs to the world so far and they are all very, very good.

With the current state of the world, we're all adjusting to things differently, even pop stars! Our Quarantini Hour will give fans some insight on how their favorite artists are passing the time. Find out how GALXARA spends her days, which artists she's playing, what she's watching and more!

How have you / your band been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

Pretty much everything in my life has stopped and is on pause. Naturally my career heavily involves me interacting and being around other people to get work done so basically all my writing sessions, studio time, meetings, photoshoots, music video shoots, events, etc. have been cancelled until the world changes. It’s been very surreal and scary at the same time but I am still very thankful to be healthy, safe and home.

Paint us a picture of your current headquarters.

Right now I’m at staying my house with my mom, dad, brother, grandmother and my dog. It’s been pretty chill, I’ve grown up with my parents working from home and always around so it all feels quite normal. I’ve just been trying my best to keep my mind occupied and staying at work to get as much done as possible.

What activities have you been doing to keep yourself busy?

I’ve been doing quite a lot actually....working out and creating innovative exercises/machines in my “home gym”, praying a lot for my loved ones and for the world, meditating and trying to find peace of mind with everything going on, I just bought a ukulele because I don’t know how to play and now is the perfect time to learn, been doing a lot of yoga & writing, plus also my fair share of watching Netflix when I get lazy!

What movies and TV have you been watching?

I watched the first season of Jack Ryan on Amazon, pretty good actually! I’ve also been binging The Good Place, one of my favorite shows of all time just because I want to. Also been watching The Twilight Zone with my family as we’re all obsessed. And honestly I love all movies so anything that looks good I’m already watching it!

What music or podcasts have you been listening to?

I’ve been listening to The Weeknd’s new album, anything from the LOML aka Lana Del Rey, Lauren Daigle, my workout playlist and any new unique pop bops. I love Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations, also been watching the live-stream podcasts from Miley Cyrus & Lizzo which are AMAZING!

The Weekend - After Hours (Album)

Lana Del Rey - Discography

Lauren Daigle - Look Up Child (Album)

Are you planning on tuning into or producing any livestream performances?

For sure! I think live-streaming right now is the key to staying connected and in touch with my fans and to all the beautiful people in this world! I’ve been trying to inspire and motivate my fans to getting outside, trying new things, finding ways to make being at home fun and just stay in a peaceful & honest relationship with them. I can’t wait to do some cozy concert live-streams and just share some light with live music over everyone so STAY TUNED!

How can fans support you in this time of tour postponements and social distancing?

I think as long as my fans and I keep an ongoing conversation and honest relationship with each other, everything is gonna be okay! Thankfully, I didn’t really have any tour plans this year so not too much has changed but nevertheless it’s still difficult and this is all new territory that my label, my team, my fans and I will have to navigate and get through.

What’s your best song for getting through a scary/confusing time?

I would say “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley is the BEST song in scary/confusing times. There’s something about that lyric, “Don’t worry about a thing, cuz every little thing is gonna be alright,” that just feels so safe, comforting and true.

What are a few of your best songs for an at-home workout playlist?

Working out is one my favorite things to do outside of music so I have A LOT of songs on my workout playlist! Definitely some of my favs are "Lemon" by NERD, "Toxic" by Britney Spears, "Imma Be," "Poker Face," "Black Skinhead" and of course "Jealous of Myself" by moi!

Where can fans get the latest info and updates from you?

Definitely Instagram and Twitter are the two socials I’m active and on the most! I’m always updating and talking to my fans about what’s going on in my life, any changes and what they can expect to see or hear from me!
