Josh Ritter Performed a 13-Song Dedication Livestream Set

Josh Ritter is back with another edition of The Silo Sessions. Last night (March 31) Ritter performed another acoustic set for fans at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch.

However, this was a special set. The session was titled (Real) Long Distance Dedications. What this meant is Ritter allowed his fans to dedicate songs to someone special in their lives. He had fans comment on one of his Instagram posts their name, location, the song they wanted to be performed, who it was for, and a story about them and why this song was being dedicated to them.

This idea made for a very special set and performance fans will never forget. Ritter also was collecting donations for foodbanknyc.org during the Livestream.

“This is a dedication show. I felt like it would be nice if people elsewhere could reach out to people far away or people right next to them, people they are thinking about. And we can spread out a little bit of a community and good feeling.”

Ritter performed an hour-long set that consisted of 13-songs. He opened with a dedication of his own, a cover of John Prine’s “Daddy’s Little Pumpkin,” which he dedicated to Prine himself.

Ritter then went through the rest of his set with all of the songs fans dedicated to their loved ones. A few of those songs included “I Still Love You (Now and Then), “Baby That’s Not All” and “Girl in the War.”

Before each song, Ritter would explain who it was for and the story behind the dedication. The Livestream was meaningful and heartwarming. It allowed for Ritter and his fans to really connect during these scary times.

Ritter ended his set with his song “To the Dogs or Whoever” and announced he would be doing another Livestream next Tuesday.

Another highlight of the show was Ritter creating a poster for The Silo Sessions and selling it. All of the proceeds go to Citymeals on Wheels.
