How is this eccentric pop artist spending her time in a pandemic? CHINCHILLA joins us for setlist.fm's Quarantini Hour to dish on her favorite tunes, TV and more.

How have you been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

It’s a massively different time for everyone. But, like a lot of people at the moment, I'm endlessly worried about others, friends and family, those in difficult living situations or financial situations, those struggling with mental health, and the rest of society and the world. I'm checking on loved ones a lot - having a lot of calls and Zooms. I'm spending a lot more time online and on social media, which has its good and bad qualities.

I usually spend a lot of time flying around Europe performing and staying at the studio I work at in Brighton so it’s a bit of a weird one sleeping in my own house in my own bed for an extended period of time - I’m not used to that!

Also I released my debut EP Awakening, and all the plans I had for promotion and live shows had to move to online alternatives. Apart from that, just trying to keep morale high with my housemates - we all have good days and bad days.

Paint us a picture of your current headquarters.

I’m in my flat in North London, in my room, struggling house plants everywhere, my bear Baloo watches me write another new song in my bedroom-studio in a T-shirt and pants and Spider-Man socks under yellow furry sliders. A double decker bus drives past and stops at the bus stop outside my house, the top deckers are aligned with my window, they all stare at me in my pants, neither party is shocked, neither party looks away, the commuters are used to it, someone on the bus coughs and the focal point is shifted, there is a cup of tea next to me that I have forgotten about and is going cold, I am forever wearing excessive sunglasses with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc in hand.

What activities have you been doing to keep yourself busy?

Cooking all the time... ALL the time. I have been writing and doing other music related things. I read psychological dating books and then write songs about them. I started learning a bit of German yesterday. I moisturized my body once... I had been running every other day until a couple of days ago when I was climbing out onto the roof to sunbathe and fell out the window, had to go to A&E (emergency department) and now am pretty much bed ridden for the next couple of weeks - I do not recommend that as a hobby...

What movies and TV have you been watching?

It’s pretty much a very specific cocktail of female lead action movies and Ex on the Beach

What music or podcasts have you been listening to?

Lots of new music! But the new Doja Cat album has been the sound track of this lockdown for me. Obsessed with it. Lizzo’s and Dua Lipa’s most recent albums are up there too. And podcasts - I LIVE FOR THEM! Really into Jameela Jamil’s I Weigh podcast at the moment. Snogged, Married, Annoyed and Private Parts are also favourites.

Are you planning on tuning into or producing any livestream performances?

I did a few dates on a livestream virtual tour in association with Live Nation a couple of weeks ago, which you can still catch online on Live Nation’s livestream. That was awesome! I will be planning some more in the near future...

What’s your best song for getting through a scary/confusing time?

Something that without a doubt forces me to be in a good mood - the song of my LIFE, Beyoncé’s "Love on Top" - it’s a winner. But also soothing feel good artists like Corinne Bailey Rae and Bruno Major. And Lizzo, always Lizzo. And the Burlesque soundtrack. There’s such a huge list...

What are a few of your best songs for an at-home workout playlist?

Ashnikko is killer for a workout! Also old school stuff like "Work It" and "Lose Control" by Missy Elliot and "London Bridge" by Fergie. Unbeatable.
