Quarantini Hour: Maddie Medley on New EP, "Schitt's Creek" + More

Nashville-based artist Maddie Medley displays a familiar sound that treads on the singer/songwriter vibes we all love from the mid to late '00s but with a touch all her own. Whether this rising songstress kicks it up on songs like "Edith" or leaves us completely speechless with the haunting vulnerability of her latest single, "Buzz," Medley is a force to be reckoned with. Be sure to stream her Coming Of Age pt. 1 EP.

Watch the official video for the gorgeous single "Buzz" below.

Maddie Medley was in the middle of her first tour when the world came to a halt. What has she been up to since? Find out as she joins us for setlist.fm's Quarnatini Hour.

How have you been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

I was in the middle of my first tour with Brent Cobb when the pandemic started, so that was postponed until June. Even though it’s definitely been strange how much life has changed since the beginning of March, I feel super lucky to have been able to adapt quickly to it by staying in touch with sweet friends + family.

Paint us a picture of your current headquarters.

I’ve been in Denver since the beginning of quarantine! When I step out onto the back porch, I can see big ol' gorgeous mountains. To be honest with you, the room I’m in is kind of a clothes-explosion. I have all the time in the world to hang my clothes up now, which means I guess I can do it later. I love Denver, though. I might not want to go home after this is over.

What activities have you been doing to keep yourself busy?

I’ve been journaling more than usual, playing Animal Crossing, and hiking a bit!

What movies and TV have you been watching?

I just watched Little Women last night! It made me cry, let me tell ya. I just finished Schitt’s Creek, which I think everyone falls in love with after trying to get past the pilot four times. Just keep tryin, it’s worth it.

What music or podcasts have you been listening to?

Fiona Apple’s new record is incredible! I’ve been listening to more fun music lately, like Miya Folick and Grace Ives. As for podcasts, I’ve been listening to My Favorite Murder every Monday and Thursday for years now, so it’s always comforting to put on.

Are you planning on tuning into or producing any livestream performances?

I’ve done a couple livestreams and anticipate doing a couple more before this is over. I had never really used the feature until this happened, so it’s kind of a learning curve. But it’s brought me a lot of joy to pop into my friends’ livestreams from back home and hear their songs and see their faces!

How can fans support you in this time of tour postponements and social distancing?

They can check out my new EP, Coming of Age Pt 1. :-)

What’s your best song for getting through a scary/confusing time?

"A Better Son / Daughter" by Rilo Kiley is an incredibly uplifting song. Play it as loud as you can.

What are a few of your best songs for an at-home workout playlist?

"Stop Talking" by Miya Folick, "N.E.O" by CHAI, "1612" by Vulfpeck, then maybe just finish up with more CHAI.
