Quarantini Hour: Nightly On New Single, Livestreams + More

Nashville-based alt-pop band Nightly has a knack for building sleek records packed with lyrics you can feel and melodies that you can't forget. The cool three-piece recently dropped their single "you should probably just hang up" and it's a bop. Nightly dresses up a breakup song with a sparkling chorus that will have you hitting repeat.

Listen to "you should probably just hang up" below.

What are the guys up to during the pandemic? Nightly joins us for setlist.fm's Quarantini Hour to talk music, tv and more.

How have you / your band been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

We’re lucky to all be quarantined in close proximity, but touring has been halted for the near future which is a bummer because we had some fun plans for the summer/fall. But feeling grateful that we’ve still been able to make a lot of music during this time.

Paint us a picture of your current headquarters.

We work out of our guitarist Joey’s basement. That’s where we normally write and record even in pre-pandemic times. Pretty simple set up. Joey is obsessed with Star Wars so there is a ton of paraphernalia scattered throughout.

Embedded content is no longer available.

What activities have you been doing to keep yourself busy?

Just been writing and finishing up songs that we had started before all this started! Been staying pretty regimented because we’re eager to get new music out!

What movies and TV have you been watching?

I started Seinfeld from the beginning and randomly watched Free Willy the other day because it popped up on Hulu. Also the Michael Jordan documentary has been sick.

What music or podcasts have you been listening to?

I’ve been jamming Jeremy Zucker for music, and I love Tim Ferris, listen to his podcast a bunch.

Are you planning on tuning into or producing any livestream performances?

We’ve been doing them randomly every other week or so! Definitely going to do a few more. I also cut Joey’s hair on IG live, I was definitely a little nervous about that one.

How can fans support you in this time of tour postponements and social distancing?

Just stay safe! We always appreciate people listening to and sharing the music, and we got more on the way. (:

What’s your best song for getting through a scary/confusing time?

Of ours I’d say "Twenty Something," first line of the chorus is “don’t freak out” - of someone else’s I’d say anything off Coldplay’s first record Parachutes.

What are a few of your best songs for an at-home workout playlist?

Ours would be "Miss You Like Hell" or "Say Anything Else" - of another artist I’d say anything Drake. It’s not too hype, and not too chill.
