Oasis Played 9 Songs at First USA Show on This Day in 1994

Take a mental break with me as we imagine the year is 1994 and Oasis have just come to the USA for their first show outside of Europe.

On July 21st, 26 years ago, one of the biggest UK rock bands made their way to New York City for their overseas debut. The show was part of the New Music Seminar at Wetlands festival and carried a 9-song setlist.

"This was our first trip to America on tour with Oasis and, apart from Noel, none of us had been to New York before. We were there to play at the Wetlands Preserve, a festival in New York, and we were just starting to get known. We had an incredible time, playing gigs and filming videos. This particular morning I remember we were all very hung-over, which might explain the glasses. But you can see from the smiles on our faces [Arthurs, centre] that we all think it’s brilliant." - Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs

They opened the set with "Shakermaker" and the rest of the set was all cuts off of Definitely Maybe, their debut album, and only record out at the time. They ended the set with a cover of "I Am the Walrus" by the Beatles, a song they covered over 300 times over the course of their career.
