Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa Kick Off High School Reunion

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa kicked off their High School Reunion Tour at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC, Canada last week.

It was the first of two months of dates which will find the tall, tattooed, red-eyed rappers reliving the stony memories they had back in 2011 when they were on the Mac & Devin Go to High School soundtrack that produced the smash collaboration "Young, Wild & Free."

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa have begun their High School Reunion tour with special guests Too $hort, Warren G, Berner and DJ Drama.

Also on the bill for the tour are Too $hort, Warren G, Berner and special guest DJ Drama who provided the Canadian crowd with a full night of hits.

The Canucks raised their hands in the air to classics like “Gin and Juice” and “The Next Episode” from the D-O-double-G;  and "Black and Yellow" and "On My Level" from Wiz.

A touching moment came when Snoop and Wiz reclined on the hood of a classic lowrider during "See You Again," the smash hit Wiz wrote for the Furious 7 film starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, et al.

As the mournful hook played, tribute images of actor Paul Walker, NBA legend Kobe Bryant, and fallen rappers Nate Dogg, MF Doom, ASAP Yams, Juice Wrld, Takeoff, Pop Smoke, XXXTentacion, DMX, and Mac Miller lit up the screen behind them.

Tears at a hip-hop show.

The prolific Wiz dropped "You" last week and played it for the first time in North America to those lucky Canadians.

Fans may have witnessed a live debut at the Rogers Center. Unless Wiz did it this spring in Brazil, the Canadians were treated to "You" for the first time, an unreleased track he did with Ty Dolla Sign (not to be confused with "You and Your Friends" which he also did with Ty - and Snoop)

The night ended with Snoop and Wiz rocking the mic together on "Young, Wild & Free" and "We Dem Boys."

Most artists would force their audience to endure at least one or two tracks from their most-recent album, but not Snoop. In 2022, the Long Beach icon released his 20th studio album, B.O.D.R. (Bacc On Death Row). Last year Martha Stewart's BFF acquired the Death Row Records brand, a label that was home of his 1993 debut solo masterpiece, Doggystyle.

Of the 18 tunes the Doggfather performed last week at the 20,000 capacity arena, zero were from B.O.D.R., six were off Doggystyle, and the majority were songs Snoop had performed with others like California Gurls (Katy Perry) and Nuthin' but a "G" Thang (Dr. Dre).

The summer tour travels across the U.S. to Brooklyn, Atlanta, Houston, and other cities before wrapping up in Irvine at FivePoint Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 27.
