You know Nick Cannon—of course you do. But were you aware he’s a renaissance man? Comedian, actor, musician, entrepreneur, creator of the longest-running hip hop TV show in history… speaking of, he’s taking that show—Wild N Out—on the road to give fans an entirely new, hour-long experience. Even if you’ve seen Wild N Out, it might be hard to anticipate what this improv slash hip hop live show will be like, because it’s the first of its kind. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to ask Nick a bunch of questions. He gave us an overview of the tour, and how he and his crew prep to be ready for anything. Watch:
On what to expect from the tour:
“It’s a little bit of everything. Same thing you would get when you go to a festival, but we pack it in to an hour and a half. Live performances, comedy—you never know what’s gonna happen, just like when you watch the TV show. We’re bringing people on stage, we’re making fun of people—it’s such a great time to have all that electric energy in an arena. I feel like people are just going to be overloaded once they come to this show.”
On how Nick and his crew prep for something like this:
“I like to explain this in the same vein as sports. You can’t plan out a football game, you can’t plan out a basketball game, but you can practice as much as possible. That’s how Wild N Out and even improv works. We are so seasoned and prepared from days and days and months of practicing and sharpening our improv tools. We never know what’s going to happen, we never know what we’re going to say but we have certain plays in our mind […] We’re ready for anything.
That’s what improv is. Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready."
