Concert of the Day: Iron Maiden's 15-Song Set at Wacken 2016

In celebration of Wacken Open Air, the German metal music festival featured a series of livestream events for a 2020 pandemic-friendly version of the fest called Wacken World Wide.

The event featured new sets, and iconic older sets, including Iron Maiden's 2016 set, which landed on their Book of Souls Tour. The epic set aired on Friday, July 31st, but Maiden has informed the fans that you can still watch it ICYMI! Since the show happened exactly four years ago today (August 4th), it makes it the perfect selection for Setlist.Fm's "Concert of the Day."

The 15-song show featured the band walking out to UFO's "Doctor Doctor" before they explode into "If Eternity Should Fail." They work in 5 other songs off of the album they were touring to promote, The Book of Souls, including "Speed of Light," "Tears of a Clown," and "Death of Glory."

The Maiden also weaved in their classics like "Children of the Damned," "The Trooper," "Hallowed Be Thy Name," and set closer "Iron Maiden." The IM anthems didn't slow down there, the band comes back out to encore three songs, firing off with "The Number of the Beast."

The finale is "Wasted Years," which is followed by a big "Happy Birthday" sing-a-long to Bruce Dickinson, whose birthday is this Friday, August 7th!
