Led Zeppelin Play 13-Song Set on Robert Plant's Birthday in 1970

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant turns 72-years-old today (August 20)! The legendary English rockstar is known for his unique and wide vocal range, writing some of the most important bangers of our lifetimes, and of course that long glowing hair.

We want to celebrate this icon today by sending you back to his birthday in 1970 when Led Zeppelin performed an epic concert as part of their North American Summer Tour, which ended up being a massive success.

Plant's birthday show took place at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City and featured a 13-song setlist. It was their sixth tour in the States and they were reaching the pinnacle of their rock stardom. I can only imagine Plant felt like he was sitting on a throne playing that show for thousands of fans as he turned only 22.

At the time they only had two albums out, with Led Zeppelin III in the works. The set fired off with the anthemic "Immigrant Song," a taste for what was to come in the third album.

Other songs from the forthcoming album they weaved into the set included "That's the Way" and "Since I've Been Loving You." The rest of the setlist included mostly songs off of II like "Heartbreaker," "Moby Dick" and "Whole Lotta Love." They also covered Willie Dixon's "Bring It On Home."

The set ended theatrically on "Communication Breakdown." Check out the whole setlist below!
