Everything We Know About Taylor Swift's Next Tour

Taylor Swift has become known for her grandiose live performances. With multiple costume changes, intense stage designs and impressive pyrotechnics, her stadium shows are more of an out-of-body EXPERIENCE than just a concert.

Swift broke several records during last year's Reputation Tour, including becoming the highest grossing tour by a female artist in North American history (surpassing her own 1989 World Tour with fewer dates), as well as the first female performer to headline three consecutive nights at both MetLife and Gillette Stadiums and touting the highest grossing concert engagement of 2018– beating U2's 2017 record by over $467,000!

With all the hype surrounding the release of her latest installment, Lover – Swift's most critically-acclaimed album yet– fans are dying to know what's store for the live shows.

But Swifties– you need to calm down! The queen herself says she's not even sure yet. What we do know, however, is fans might be attending a much smaller show opposed to her typical stadium productions.

"I’m not quite sure what we’re doing with touring," Swift admitted in an interview with Ryan Seacrest.

"...because with this album, I was so full-on planning this album release and directing the videos and putting all these different clues in these videos and trying to make this album release experience the most fun one for my fans, that I didn’t wanna plan what we’re gonna do in terms of live and I don’t want to do the same thing every time because I don’t want my life to feel like I’m on a treadmill."

She explained that she wants to perform the album live in front of "a lot of people," but isn't sure if stadiums are the right setting.

"I don't want to feel like I have to do the same thing every single time," she continued.

"This album is so personal, so detailed, like, Reputation was very external, very loud… this is an album that is very personal, vulnerable, emotional so my goal for whatever live setting that we decide to do things in, is gonna be to try to make wherever we are… make it feel smaller like a living room… That’s my goal. That’s my objective, [but] I truly don’t know what we’re doing… I haven’t had the meetings yet."

Swift says she knew fans wouldn't understand Reputation in its entirety until they saw it live, which required a lot of work and extensive planning behind the scenes.

The Reputation Tour's production consisted of two towering video screens, two auxiliary stages, two ski-lift-sized carts that carried her to those additional stages, a myriad of costumes and set designs, an arsenal of pyrotechnics and multiple inflatable pythons that rose up center stage, among other things.

(Seriously– scroll through and check out that intense stage design!)

"I knew what I had planned for it live was going to make people understand what I had made on the record," she said.

"But [Lover] is different because people are seeming to get this album on a first-listen basis, which is so wonderful. I can't even tell you how much easier that is."

She's already started to weed out the dark colors and snake imagery in her live productions so far, replacing them with the pastel pinks and blues that have been flooding her Instagram page and red carpet looks.

Fans are speculating the tour will begin six months from the album's August release, as Swift said in a recent interview that she typically plans things that far in advance.

When asked how far ahead she looks, the singer replied:

"Six months? Just because I have to plan shows and stuff. But, I don’t know what I’ll do after this album and I think that’s great. I tell myself it’s ungrateful to just assume that you have 20 years. Be stoked that you have today."

So Swifties– I think it's safe to expect the Lover Tour to commence in February 2020...

After all, February IS the month of love and we all know Taylor Swift is the queen of Easter eggs.
