A lot can be said about last night's American Music Awards, but for the time being, let's focus on the true MVP—Taylor Swift. After last's night's hefty haul, she became the most awarded artist in AMA history, roping in wins for both artist of the year and artist of the decade.
She did more than just collect trophies, however—the 24-time AMA winner performed a 10-minute medley of her hits, equal parts adorable, dazzling and fun. And a relief, given the record label controversy that preceded it.
As a somewhat subtle commentary on that fiasco, she opened with "The Man," delivering in a white button-down dress, covered with the names of the albums she doesn't own. She invited up a crew of tiny little superstar back up dancers, also dressed in white button-downs and black jeans.
She hit on "Love Story" next, a throwback to her '09 album, followed by "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "Blank Space."
For "Shake It Off" she invited up her pals Camila Cabello and Halsey.
And for the title track to her newest album, Swift took to an ornate piano (if you look closely, you can see the album titles engraved on it) while ballet dancers Misty Copeland and Craig Hall performed.
While accepting her big award for Artist of the Decade from icon Carole King, she (of course) thanked her fans.
“All--any of the artists, or really anyone in this room wants, is to create something that will last. Whatever it is in life. And the fact that this is an award that celebrates a decade of hard work and of art and of fun and memories, all that matters to me is the memories that I have had with you guys, with you the fans over the years.”
Later that night she posted an Insta further effusing her gratitude.
T-Swift has a couple more radio shows slated for 2019. See those + every date she's announced so far for 2020 on her official site.
