The Darkness Live Debut Full Album on Easter is Cancelled UK Tour

Let’s just say it hasn’t been the easiest path for The Darkness, but what lies ahead seems quite promising. Despite a few lineup changes since their original formation in 2000, the British rockers have cemented a solid foundation in the music world going forward.

With the release of their most recent album Easter is Cancelled this past October, the band is in the midst of a UK tour set to continue through the end of December. So far, they’ve hit just over ten cities across England and Ireland, and with another half of the tour still remaining, fans should gear up for what is a fantastic show.

Deemed the Easter is Cancelled 2019 UK Tour, it’s a no brainer that The Darkness would hold the album accountable for much of the show. In fact, the guys have played the complete record every night thus far on the tour, effectively live debuting nearly ten songs in a single night at the start of the tour.

That night was on November 25 in Cork, Ireland. Opening with the first track of the album and biggest hit thus far, “Rock and Roll Deserves to Die,” The Darkness continued on with the remainder of the record, live debuting almost the full album in its entirety, minus a couple of tracks that had been played at a few one-off dates prior to the UK tour.

Of course, while catching a complete album live is a rare opportunity, it’s hard to imagine a The Darkness show without a few of their biggest hits added to the setlist. Fortunately, that’s exactly what they did.

Splitting the show into two parts ,— “Easter is Cancelled and “Greatest Hits” — the British legends have conjured up a smaller set to end of every night that consists of solely their greatest hits. And although the exact list of songs and order of performances has changed from night-to-night, there are a few key tracks you should expect to hear during the latter half of the night.

From “One Way Ticket” and “Growing On Me” to “Love Is Only a Feeling” and “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” and every track in between, the second portion of the night has been everything fans crave and more. Coupled with intimate venues and limited production, and the tour has become the perfect setting for such a performative band.

Whether it be the celebration of the holiday theme on their Easter is Cancelled album, or the fact that it is indeed the most wonderful time of the year, The Darkness have channeled their inner festivities by ending off every show with a great rendition of “Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End).” With a somewhat unpredictable setlist guiding the night, expect to hear the finale during either the main set or in a one-song encore.
