Hey the tape you have of the eagles concert in 1975 from seattle coliseum, is that audio or footage?

Thanks for the confirmation on the date. I was wondering about "All Night Long" too but that was the exact title the reviewer gave. He gave the song I called "Little by Little" as "Bit by Bit" so I figured it was that song. I'm going to change the setlist to reflect the questions you have about these.

An ad here in the Nov 10 Crusader gives a Nov 17 date. It doesn't give the venue and doesn't even confirm the show was even at Holy Cross. But many websites seem to confirm there was a show at Holy Cross in November 1972 so this must be it. I'll keep digging for more info and see what else I can find.

Here's how the @Cover/@Song thing works:

If SSJ plays "Walking in the Rain" it will never say @Song. It will always be @Cover. That's not something that we have any control over. It makes no difference if the person who wrote the song is singing it.

The @Cover/@Song information comes from the band member relationship on musicbrainz.org, and is imported over to this site. To use a common example... The Beatles. Paul McCartney is a member of the Beatles, so if he performs one of their songs at a "Paul McCartney" show, it will be listed as @Song, because "Paul McCartney" is listed as a member of "The Beatles" on musicbrainz.

If Paul McCartney performs a Beatles song with "Wings" it will be listed as @Cover, because "Wings" was not a member of "The Beatles".

The same goes for Ronnie Spector. When Ronnie Spector performs as a solo artist "Walking in the Rain" will be listed as @Song, because "Ronnie Spector" is a member of "The Ronettes". When Ronnie Spector performs "Walking in the Rain" with Southside Johnny it will be listed as @Cover, because "Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes" is not a member of "The Ronettes"... Understand? Whether it says @Cover or @Song doesn't actually make any difference. It is just used to keep all performances of the song together in one place for statistic reasons and to connect it back to it's original album as seen on musicbrainz. It has nothing to do with song copyright info or anything else... Just the little pie wheel below the setlist showing which albums the songs come from.

Don't worry about getting a second source in order to to add setlists or a confirmation after the show is played. Just mention where you got the info like you have been doing. If we get more definite information that the show was played (like a review) it can be put in another Comment. And if it is discovered that the show was cancelled a Moderator can always delete it.

Thanks for posting those links on my page. Finding that stuff on the internet is hard to do. And address in New Jersey are hard to get right. Between the townships, counties, boroughs. villages etc it is quite confusing. Please let me know if you see anything that looks wrong and I will check it out.

Friendly piece of advice, don't engage with Landry. He's rude, abrasive, obnoxious and only here to stroke his own ego. I learned myself that engaging him just feeds his narcissism. As a long time Springsteen fan it's clear that you know your SSJ history and that you know more about SS than Landry knows about music.

Cheers.

Thanks for all the time and effort that you took to research this topic. Especially because it confirms the fact that according to the Cover Songs Guidelines as used on this website these songs should be listed as Steve Van Zandt covers. Which wasn't what you wanted but you still reported it anyway. If you need anything done here in the future feel free to contact me on my page and I'll try to take care of it for you.
Cheers,
Ben

The Guidelines for Covered Songs were changed a while ago. It is discussed in Exception 1 below that can be found if you click on the Guidelines link if you want more details. A lot of people do not agree with this method for assigning covers including more than one Moderator and Roadie. The bottom line is that there has to be one definite way to handle these in order for statistics to be compiled.

Covered songs

If one or more songs on the setlist were previously released by another artist, it's possible to mark them as covered by writing @Cover[artistname] after the song. E.g. @Cover[The Beatles] for a cover of a song by The Beatles.

Songs are credited to the group or performing artist who originally wrote the song. E.g. John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote “A Day in the Life”, while members of The Beatles. So the song would be credited as A Day in the Life @Cover[The Beatles]. Songs performed by an orchestra should be credited to the composer who wrote the song and not to the orchestra. Songs written before the invention of commercial sound recording (1877) should always be attributed to the original artist. If the original artist is unknown the song should be listed as @Cover[traditional].

Exception 1
If a songwriter writes a song for another artist or group which they were not a part of, and never records their own version of the song, then the song should be credited to the artist who released it first. If the songwriter does finally release their own version of the song, regardless of how many years have gone by, then the song should be credited back to the songwriter. E.g. “Bright Eyes” was written by Mike Batt and first released by Art Garfunkel in 1979. Mike Batt released his own version in 2009, so the song is credited back to him.

We are changing SSJ songs to Steve Van Zandt songs because he has released them himself and he was the songwriter as per our latest Guidelines for cover songs. I used the setlist you created to enter the cover songs into the database because we have a bug in our system making certain things difficult. Thanks for noting and reporting it though.
Cheers,
Ben

The December 27, 1977 may not be accurate. The tape of the show was labeled as such, that does not mean it is correct.

There's really no problem in making mistakes, especially with the first edits. The other user could have easily added a comment explaining their edit and thus giving you a hint how to add future setlists. That's their fault. Did you ever receive an answer from the user?

Hey there,

what do you mean by "trashes my work"? Can you provide an example please? I looked through a couple of setlists where mahdien improved your edits and corrected your errors rather than 'trashing' your edits. They added @Cover tags to songs where they were missing. E.g. to "Thunder Road" on an Southside Johnne & TAJ setlist where it should be marked as a Bruce Springsteen song.
